Loopwheels

Here's another Kickstarter project, that became a proper company. British designer Sam Pearce came up with this concept of a wheel for small bicycles, where the spokes become the actual suspension of the bike. The best way to understand how this works it to watch the video.
So happy to see this actually works, as in my youth I had a very similar idea, that never made it out of my sketchbook. Morphogenetic fields is all I say…

Revo Lights

What originally started as a Kickstarter campaign has now become a full fledged little company.
Revolights don't just light your path when cycling, they also make you more visible to other traffic in all directions.

Lumi Printing – Printing With Light

Another Kickstarter project I love. By applying a special light sensitive dye to a fabric, any piece of clothing can become a piece of photo paper. Create a negative of your preferred image on a piece of transparent film, put it on the prepared piece of clothing and expose to the sun. Once the fabric is washed, the unexposed dye is flushed out and the exposed dye is fixed. Imagine the possibilities…
A pledge of 35 U$ will get you a starter kit.

Stack Infinite Soapbar

The Stack soapbar deals with an age old problem:
Once a bar of soap gets really thin, it's near unusable.
Stack deals with this by having an indentation in the new bar, that the used bar fits into. Hence the infinite bar subtitle.
Fund it on Kickstarter.

Crowdfunding

I love the idea of crowdfunding, democratizing the financing of a project.
Test the value of your idea by putting it out there and seeing if you get the support of the community.
I've invested in a couple of projects so far and haven't regretted it.
Core77 has a comprehensive article on the subject on their website.
There are a few platforms for crowdfunding, well worth browsing to see if a project piques your interest:
Kickstarter
Indiegogo
Quirky
Projektstarter
