Japanese scientists from TIS Partners have developed a new type of building material that cures to it's full strength within 24 hours. This is a huge advantage over concrete that can take up to 28 days to reach it's full strength. This allows to quickly build structures that won't even need steel reinforcement, as the material reaches twice the tensile strength of concrete. CO2 Structure comprises of silica, into which CO2 is blown, which instantly forms a brick. It needs to be combined with an organic material like urethane or epoxy to reach it's full performance.
To quickly rebuild desaster areas this material could be a valuable new resource.
